Santa’s moving to the New North Pole at Stonebriar Centre [October 2011]
Stonebriar Centre, The elves at Stonebriar Centre have been hard at work, adding a special sparkle to Santa’s holiday home at the shopping center. Santa’s New North Pole is a welcoming place – a winter wonderland filled with candy cane swirls and stripes, lots of friendly toys, bright white snow and more merriment, too. There’s even a mischievous little elf who sits up top and, every now and again, just for fun, sends snow flurries down on the visitors below.
Because the New North Pole is the place to see and be seen by Santa this season, on Friday, November 11 at 6:30 p.m., he’s hosting an Open House and all his little friends are invited to stop by and say hello. There will be magic and merriment, and one lucky guest will get to help Santa unlock the gate to his new home. Santa will read a story or two and there will also be refreshments and make-and-take crafts.
During his Open House at the New North Pole, located near Dillard’s and Sears, children can sit on Santa’s lap and whisper their wishes to him. Plus, elves will be ready to snap a commemorative photo if desired. There’s no charge to come to Santa’s Open House and visits with Santa are free. Photo packages start at $23.
More fun Santa events at Stonebriar Centre include:
- Saturday, November 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon: Milk & Cupcakes with Santa. Visions of cupcakes are dancing in Santa’s head and everyone’s invited to come and decorate Sugar Queen Cupcakes with him on Saturday, November 12 at the New North Pole. After the cupcakes are decorated, Santa will give each one his “stamp of approval.” Event cost is $10 per child, which will be donated to Operation Sweet 16, a campaign created by Tori Pimentel, a local teenager, to raise money to help U.S. soldiers and their families. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the 501 (c)(3) organization (www.operationsweet16.org). Reservations are required and the number of guests is limited, so call 972.668.6153 to make a reservation.
- Tuesday, November 15 from 12 to 1 p.m.: Story Time with Santa. Santa loves books and he wants all his little friends to come and join him as he reads a few of the season’s favorite stories. There will be snacks and a take-and-make craft for everyone to enjoy. Story Time with Santa is at no charge.
- Saturday, November 19 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.: Santa on Ice Welcome Party. More merriment and magic when Stonebriar Centre welcomes Santa back to town with a party at The ICE. The pre-show fun starts at 6:30 p.m. with a contest to Build the Best Snowman and continues at 7 p.m. when local skate schools take to the ice for a holiday performance. Santa will arrive atop the Zamboni and circle around The ICE, waving to all his guests. And he will stop and use a little Santa Magic to light the holiday tree. There will be music, festivities and lots of holiday fun.
